EMS Team Online Course Outline

Our Educating Masters Students (EMS) Team has decided upon creating an “experience” for Educational Adults that are interested in creating an online classroom using the well-known website, Google.com. Google has many tools and resources available for educators and students that are willing to be involved with electronics, websites, learning, and exploring. There are 4 levels in our experience: Block 1- Basics, Block 2- Beyond the Basics, Block 3- Advanced Basics, and Block 4- Final Project.

Going from the Basics to Advanced Basics, Educators will be introduced to, of course, the Basic tools Google has to offer with Gmail, Hangout video and chat, and the cloud storage, Drive. From understanding the Drive, students will become familiar on how to create, use, save and share different forms of documents, sheets, and forms in Beyond the Basics; they then will have the opportunity to take their knowledge a step further with Advanced Basics where they will work with creating slides, a Google Classroom of their own, and a site.

Before continuing onto the next block, the students will choose a “Fun” element from a list of Google’s resources available for educational use. Within the “Fun” section, the students will explore different elements within the chosen resource. For our EMS Team Project, we have incorporated our own chosen resource for each Block as an example: Block 1 will focus on Google Science Fair, Block 2 will be Google Earth, and Block 3 will focus on Google Art and Culture.

As the for the final project, students will design their own project that they will be able to incorporate into their own school classroom.

Our next steps will be to create a Communication’s Plan along with an outline and rubric for our individual element blocks. We will have a final assessment for the final project along with a descriptive video for the final conglomerate for the Google Experience for Educators.
